Romans Chapter 1:16-17.
"For I am not ashamed of the Gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one (that's you and I) that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek"
So many Christians are embarrased of their faith, they don't want to talk about God or Jesus to anybody. Why would everybody rather talk to their friends about immoral values than Jesus Christ and His Word?
Why would we rather spend time reading magazines about beauty and popularity than reading God's very Word, His Bible?
We would rather listen to songs about sex and getting high, and getting drunk than listening to songs about worship or about our God.
I know a kid who is 13 years old. He goes to school at a public middle school and every day he is bullied. His peers, beat him up, give him swirly's, tease him all because they know he is a Christian. Has he transferred schools? Has he lost his faith? Instead his faith is increased. Through the beating and the bullying, he is reciting Bible verses. He invites them to church every day, he doesn't let the kids tear him down.
We need to stand up for our faith, we can't be embarrassed or afraid because we are Christian. We should be proud, and shouting it from the top of the highest buildings in the world that we love our God not hiding it away as if it is a deep dark secret.
There was a young girl ( name unknown) whose story is told everywhere. She was one of the many victims of the Columbine High School shooting that happened on April 20th, 1999. One of the many gunmen cornered her and held a gun to her head and asked her the question,
"Do you belive in God?"
Did she lie to save her own butt? With happy tears streaming down her face she said,
"Yes I am a Christian, and this is why-"
In the middle of her sentence a bullet was implanted in the middle of her skull. That girl died for her faith, a martyr at the age of 16 or less. Would you die for your faith if given the chance? Or would you hide it away as if it was a secret?
Wow.
