What comes to mind when you envision an idol worshiper? A large temple, a statue and people bowing down to it, right? When most people think of idol worship they miss out on a big part of idolatry that is taking place in our society today. They point fingers at those who worship animals, statues, and people but they don't remember to examine themselves.
Are you an idol worshiper? I know that right now you must be saying, "Me? No way, I go to church every day and I only worship God." That is what we all say when we are asked that question.
Idol worship is more than what you think it is. It goes far beyond setting up images in your home and bowing to them. Examine the scripture; examine yourself. If there is anything or anyone in your life that takes God's place it is an idol. Get rid of the idol and repent.
Take a minute to really think about the question and critique your actions. Are you an idol worshiper? If you answer these questions "Yes" then you are indeed an idol worshiper.
