Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. 2 Corinthians 5:17
The Bible says, in the book of Corinthians, that if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature. If any creature can become new then it means that the creature was once old. Christians may look dignified today but each and every one of us were wretched sinners. We were soiled, dirty and marred. We were so drenched in sin that we weren't even aware of our sin. We were dogs and sorcerers lost in iniquity and deep in our transgressions. As Christians we were once thieves, liars, backstabbers, whoremongers, adulterers, and fornicators. It's not by my righteousness that I am saved. It's only by the precious blood of Jesus Christ that I am saved. I am not holy because of my goodness but because Jesus died one day on the cross and allowed me to be sanctified and holy.
As sinners you look upon Christians and you see sanctification. You see a cleansed person; a holy person. You look upon me in my newness and you think that I've always been holy. I have made mistakes in my life and I have done so much wrong that you cannot fathom. I was a sinner and I was lost but I needed a savior. You need a savior also, but the difference between me and you right now is acceptance. We all need Jesus Christ in our lives. We were all born in sin and shapen in iniquity. Jesus died on the cross for us; He put on our sin although He was sinless. He did it for love.
Salvation is a gift paid for with the blood of Jesus Christ. With any gift, the recipient cannot receive it unless they accept it. You are a sinner simply because you haven't accepted the gift. I have accepted the gift and I am now saved. That's the only difference between me and you.
So the next time that you see me or another Christian don't forget these words that I wrote. We were not always clean. We have made mistakes and we have done so much things that we regret. We were born in sin and shapen in iniquity and we have sinned multiple times. Sin separates us from God; Jesus died to reconcile us with God and destroy the sin nature. You don't have to be far from God any more! You don't have to sin any more! He loves you and He died for you. Just accept Him as your Lord and Savior and He will keep you.
