“A rejection is nothing more than a necessary step in the pursuit of success.” All of us have faced some sort of rejection throughout our journey of life. For some of us, rejection strengthened us but unfortunately some of us still can’t overcome the fear of being rejected. To get pass the fear of being rejected you first have to understand your worth, who you are and where you are meant to go in life. You’re not rejected because you’re not good enough, but rather, you’re rejected because you’re too good.
I have experienced a great deal of rejection, and going through it brought me to a great realization – I am as gold in the eyes of God. A few years back, I came to a point in my life where I had no friends and was greatly despised by the people around me. They expressed their hatred towards me by threatening me, and disclosed their wicked thoughts towards me. Then, I didn’t know the thoughts that God had towards me (Thoughts of peace and not of evil…) so those individuals greatly troubled me.
So, being an outsider I wanted to be inside and I tried to please those who treated me as an outcast. I figured that if you can’t beat them, you join them but sadly I was very wrong. Nothing I did or said changed their attitude towards me; in fact I believe that they hated me even more. So, I began to think that there was something terribly wrong with me. “How,” I thought “could it be possible that regardless of what I do, I’m not accepted.” Amongst different groups of people from various places I was rejected and despised. I tried to change who I was to be accepted by them, but still they rejected me. I did all I could and nothing worked. To me, It seemed that I attracted hatred of others.
And still, even now, though some accept me, I’m still terribly rejected and hated. The difference between now and then is not the rejection but it’s my attitude towards the rejection that changed. In the past I believed that there was truly something wrong with me, but my perspective changed and I was able to realize that there is something great about me. God favours me, and the enemy doesn’t like that. And, I’m pretty sure that God favours you too.
Rejection no longer worries me, it amuses me. I know that I am blessed and highly favoured by God. All I care about right now is what God thinks about me and I know He has great thoughts towards me. I’m sure many people still hate me, but I don’t mind because God loves me.
Rejection is not an easy thing to get over, but just turn your eyes upon Jesus because He’ll never reject you. Jesus will always be there for you, and that is a promise. If you feel alone or rejected look to Jesus. Pray without ceasing and ask Him to deposit His fruits in you. He’ll give you joy you’ve never known, and a peace that will never leave you. In sadness, you’ll still be happy. When your enemies stand behind your back with a knife you know that “it shall not come nigh thee.” (Psalm 91)
You overcome rejection by knowing who you are, what you’re worth and your purpose in life. You are a child of the living God who loves you dearly. You are a child of a King who will defend you and He’ll fight for you. You are beloved. Psalm 139:14 tells us that we are fearfully and wonderfully made. If you don’t believe that, say it until you do. God looks at you and He sees your imperfection and your sin, but above that He sees your worth. So He says, “Come, and let Me bring out the best in you.” He wipes away your imperfection and molds you into a perfect being. Right now you’re not pure gold, but you’re gold. To others you may appear to be only a rock, but God sees the treasure within you. He knows you more than you know yourself. Trust Him. You could have been dead a long time ago, but you’re still alive because God favours you. It doesn’t matter if a petty human says you’re not good enough because God says that you’re treasure. Believe the word of the LORD!
