[There is] therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. Romans 8:1 |
The bad news: We are wretched sinners who deserve to die.
Oh, but you say, I'm a good person. I go to church every once in a while. I'm nice to everyone. I help people. I pray every night before I go to sleep. Surely, I am a good person. Unfortunately it doesn't work that way. You have broken at least one of God's laws. The Bible says that if you hate someone you are a murderer. If you lust after someone you are an adulterer. You have broken God's laws therefore you deserve death.
The good news: God sent His only begotten Son to die in your stead.
God loves you so much that He decided to offer up His Son to die for your sins. Jesus Christ, the precious Lamb of God, took your place and died. He shed His sinless blood to cover a multitude of your sin. You deserve to go to hell but He went for you and He rose on the third day to set you free. The Lord loves you and He wanted to be with you forever. He wants you to live with Him in paradise. He is Jesus Christ, the Lamb of God who died for your sins.
What do I do now? You accept His payment for your sin.
Yes, He died for your sins. But, your sins are not covered unless you accept that He died on the cross and rose again for you. You have to repent of your sins. Acknowledge them and make a vow to turn away from them. If you make a vow to change, God will help you. The Bible says that after you repent, you must be baptized in Jesus' name. When you pray and ask God to take away your sin nature, He will do it. But you have to be serious about change. Don't pray halfheartedly. Pray for complete change.
What next?
Salvation doesn't stop at that. You have to make a commitment to Him. Stay true to Him. You will definitely make mistakes, and lots of them too. If you're mind is made up, and you repent for what you've done you'll be okay. Just don't give up on God because He won't give up on you. There is no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh but after the Spirit.
The Purpose? Heaven
Jesus said, when He departed, that He has gone to prepare a place for us that where He is we might be also. If you are true to Him, where He is you will be. You will live with Him in paradise and He will place a crown upon your head. Jesus wants to dwell with you. The Lord wants you to love Him and He wants to love you.
